Legal Annual Leaves and Public Holidays in the Maldives
As per the Employment Act of the Maldives, employees are entitled to various types of leaves to ensure their well-being and work-life balance.

Public Holidays: All employees are entitled to 10 days of public holidays annually.

Annual Leave: Employees are granted 30 days of paid annual leave per year.

Medical Leave: In the case of illness, employees are entitled to 30 days of paid medical leave.

Family Responsibility Leave: Employees can take up to 10 days of paid leave to attend to family responsibilities.

Paternity Leave: Fathers are entitled to 5 days of paid paternity leave.

Maternity Leave: Female employees are granted 60 days of maternity leave. Upon returning to work after maternity leave, they are entitled to two daily breaks of 30 minutes each to attend to the needs of their child.

Circumcision Leave: Each employee is entitled to 5 days of paid leave on the occasion of the circumcision of a child. Such leave shall commence from the date of the circumcision of the child.
Additionally, the law stipulates that no employee should work more than 6 consecutive days in a week without being provided with 24 consecutive hours of leave.
These regulations ensure that employees in the Maldives are provided with necessary time off for personal and family matters, contributing to their overall well-being and productivity in the workplace.
